Major Changes To Belize COVID Regulations Include
Curfew, Mask Wearing, And Border Testing

The Government of Belize released a new SI and announced major changes to Belize Covid regulations coming into effect today on March 1, 2022. We looked through it and have the biggest changes for you.

COVID 19 Regulation Changes

Curfew
Belize Covid Regulations - Curfew

First of all, after almost two years, the highly anticipated end of the curfew is here.

Not that Caye Caulker is famous for her nightlife, but we no longer have to hurry home before 11pm!

Face Masks

In addition, we no longer have to wear our masks outside in open air.

Since most all of the activities in Caye Caulker are outside, we are thrilled about this change.

However, masks must stay on while in public buildings such as churches and government buildings, and in business offices, supermarkets and any other stores. They must also be worn on public transportation and at indoor events such as weddings and funerals.

Border COVID Testing
covid 19 vaccination

Last but not least, if you’re vaccinated, you no longer need to produce a negative Covid test when entering Belize through the airport or any land or sea border.

You need to show proof of vaccination instead. If you are not vaccinated, a negative Covid test is still required.

Social Events

Social events, such as concerts, are no longer restricted to 10 participants.

However, hosts and attendees have to be immunized and can produce proof of immunization.

Tourism Gold Standard Accommodations

The Gold Standard hasn’t changed, so if you visit Caye Caulker as a tourist, you will still need to book your stay with Gold Standard certified accommodations and be able to produce documentation upon request of the immigration officer.

However, by now all of the licensed accommodations should be certified, but to be sure visit our Accommodations Directory!

We are super excited about these latest Covid requirement changes and the thought of getting a little closer “back to normal”.

To keep this direction, don’t forget to frequently wash or sanitize your hands and observe social distancing!
