“Go Slow” is the motto of Caye Caulker. Back in the days, the speed limit signs used to say “Go Slow”. We don’t have cars. We have bicycles and a few golf carts. Not that anybody can go really fast on a golf cart, a bike, or by walking, but you may be reminded to go slow even if you walk too fast!
People here not only say “Go Slow”, they live it. Nothing happens fast on the island, be it on the street or at a restaurant. There’s no reason to hurry. Stop and enjoy the views of the crystal-clear Caribbean Sea. Stop and talk to a random person. Stop to look at the iguana crossing the sandy streets. Stop and play with one of the dogs roaming the island (no, most of them are not homeless…).
Stop for whatever you feel like. Just stop and go slow!
