Caye Caulker, Belize Is Pretty Lonely During Times Of COVID-19
Yesterday, we went on a little “walkabout” around Caye Caulker to see what’s going on on the island and to take a few photos to share with you. It is pretty lonely out there!
We, like most islanders have been staying at home as much as possible during COVID-19. However, once in a while you have to leave “San Living Room” and the confinement of your own home.
So, we took our facemasks and our cameras to see what’s going on on the island.
Caye Caulker Speed Limit - Go Slow!
On a hot day like yesterday, we didn’t really need to be reminded to go slow…
"Temporarily Closed"
Most businesses have been closed for the last 6 months. It’s sad to see all those closed doors.
Not even these opening hours are valid. The Gallery also is closed at the moment. So, no Iced Latte with a view…
With the reopening of the Belize International Airport on October 1, we hope to see the coffee bar at the Split open again soon!
All of the businesses at The Split are temporarily closed, so no Pizza Al Taglio for lunch.
Even the famous Lazy Lizard bar is not open.
Freeway or Free Way?
Well, it’s most certainly not an express way in Caye Caulker!
You Never Know What You Will Discover Off The Beaten Path
We had fun times on Ras Creek’s boat back in the days. Unfortunately, it has been out of commission for a few years now.
Here’s an old photo, so you get the idea!

Or it is simply art!
Most People Have Guard Dogs
In this case they have “guard cats”! Do you see her watching us? In fact there are five or six black cats watching this property and the mailbox.
Lonely Streets Of Caye Caulker
A Lot Of Sun Later And Really Hungry, We Went On Our Way Back South
With most businesses closed, we were lucky to find some take-out for lunch at Southside Pizza!
They are open (take-out only) for delicious freshly baked sandwiches (and more) on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 11am to 2pm. And if you miss their pizza, Fridays in the evening is your chance!
And Eventually, We Saw THE Sign!
And, finally, we came across the ultimate Good Sign and we decided to take it as a good sign to see all of you here in Caye Caulker soon!
