Caye Caulker Market

Despite the last-minute cancellation of the original plan for the Caye Caulker Market on Calle Al Sol, Food Republic and the Caye Caulker Market organizers made the best out of the situation.

While a few of the vendors that had prepared perishable products and Valentine’s Day items for the event, offered their products at Food Republic, a few others created their own stands on their properties on the island.

Food Republic offered delicious BBQ and ice-cold Belikin beers all day, and locals and tourists alike enjoyed the event!

Everything's Better With Music

When Gregory Michael Musicman heard of the cancellation, it didn’t take him long to decide that music would cheer everybody up. He volunteered his talent and played live music on his guitar for a few hours. If you haven’t seen Greg play, keep an eye on his Facebook Page for his upcoming gigs.

Food & Desserts

Thanks to the Food Republic team who made a last-minute smaller version of the Caye Caulker Market possible and provided visitors with their delicious BBQ!

In addition to Food Republic’s menu, the food vendors included Yoyo with her delicious Valentine’s Day treats and desserts and Miss Lidia Salan offering fresh tamales.

Caye Caulker Market - Plan B

Despite the last-minute pull of the permit to close Calle Al Sol, it was a really nice day with delicious food, handcrafted products made in Caye Caulker, and great music.

The Caye Caulker Market organizers and vendors, as well as locals and tourists were disappointed about the last-minute cancellation. But the team will not give up, yet, “It’s a set-back, but we will take another shot at it soon.”

There are a lot of very talented entrepreneurs in Caye Caulker who have been hit really hard by the lack of tourism due to the pandemic.

Let’s hope Caye Caulker Market will get the support from all local authorities to be able to showcase more of the artists, handcrafters, chefs and their “Made in Caye Caulker” products!
